Dancing Lindy Hop (Swing)

Welcome… let me tell you about the joy of dancing…

Looking for fun? A good workout? To meet new people? That’s what dancing Lindy Hop (a form of Swing) is all about. And even better, it’s not possible to make mistakes – although we do make a lot of variations and have a laugh about it afterwards. I am currently running classes and socials in two locations – North Sydney and Pennant Hills in NSW and would love to see you.

The general format of an evening is an introduction lesson aimed to get you on the dance floor then classic music from the 1940s and 1950s to dance to. Music from the big band era of Count Bassie and Glenn Millar – and more recently Robbie Williams.

There is no need to “bring” or “have” a partner. While Swing is a partner dance, we all ask each other. That way we all learn. Additionally, you can choose to be a lead or a follow. Just because you’re a woman, doesn’t mean you have to follow (unless you want to of course)!

Social dancing is a chance for you to get to talk to other people and try out what you’ve just learnt. The best thing you can do is ASK SOMEONE TO DANCE. When you ask someone to dance they get a pulse of “Wow, you’re asking me?” and when you get a “Sure” you get it returned. It’s positive energy flowing around the room… no wonder you never see a sad dancer!
